Scotland Futures Team!

I normally look at these reports in the Daily Record and think to myself, "OK maybe we have a find, a player not tapped by other National teams or given quick Caps so no one else can use them in the National set up" But where are our own born and bread Scottish players?

  • SCOTLAND Future prospect Adam Virgo last night thanked Mark McGhee for saving his career. And the Brighton utility player revealed how a chance conversation with his manager threw him an unexpected international lifeline.

  • The Englishman qualifies to represent Scotland through his grandparents and will be handed the chance to impress in Germany.

My question is, do we actually have local scouts who pay attention to the facts that we have decent talent coming through the ranks, we have under 21's who have actually set foot on Scottish soil who can be placed in these squads, even if it is for nothing more than experience.
It's obvious where I'm going with this but am I the only one with the opinion that if scouts a travelling the length and breadth of the country to watch a player our own Scottish National Scouts should be making motions towards these players.
Who knows maybe Alan Gow has an Irish granny and we will lose the opportunity to add such talent in the future. Alan may not be the finished article but he should at least be given the chance.
If you were scouting for future national players would you in all honesty include  Airdrie's Alan Gow and Willie McLaren?
