Today's match between St Johnstone and Airdrie finished 2 -2. Airdrie had goals from Gary Twigg on two minutes and Paul Lovering extended our lead just after the break.

Airdrie opened the scoring with a superb goal that came from nowhere. After a goalmouth scramble, Twigg controlled the ball with his back to goal and struck a speculative lob that completely deceived goalkeeper Matt Glennon. On Scotsport First this morning Gary's celebrations made it clear how much he enjoyed scoring his first goal after his return from injury.
Airdrie controlled the first half and were unlucky not to extend our lead, Martin Hardie now playing for St Johnstone had at least three golden opportunities to bring the match level but fortunately for Airdrie thay all went begging.
It took until the second half for another goal to be scored, a free kick from Paul Lovering saw Airdrie's lead extended. Darren Sheridan conceded a free-kick 25 yards out and Lovering blasted the ball through the wall and into the net.
As expected Martin Hardie was destined to score against us and so he did, with twenty minutes to go Hardie got Saint Johnstone back into the match. From a goalmouth scramble the former Airdrie midfielder got his toe to the ball and poked it past goalkeeper Stephen Robertson
Airdrie wasted several chances in the dying minutes Willie McLaren had opportunities to extend the lead but instead fired straight at the St Johnstone keeper. As a desperate measure Owen Coyle had thrown himself in to the breach and his gamble paid off with seconds remaining. After another scramble the ball fell to St Johnstone skipper Kevin James, another former Diamond, who rammed home the ball off goalkeeper Robertson and the post for the equaliser.
