St Margaret’s Vs St Ambrose

Airdrie United Supporters Trust once again hosts the United Schools Cup. We started the competition with eight teams St Ambrose, Chryston, Airdrie Academy, Caldervale, St Patrick’s, Columba, St Margaret’s and Rose hall.
The initial competition was a four-team round robin that gave us the two semi finals. St Ambrose Vs Chryston, that went down to the wire. St Ambrose continued their early form in the competition and took an early lead but Chryston fought back in the second half to end the match in a three – three draw. Like the very first finals of the competition the match between these two teams went to penalty kicks and St Ambrose went on to book there place in the final.
St Margaret’s Vs St Patrick’s, gave us our second match of the Semi finals. In a very evenly matched game it was St Margaret’s who would take the lead only to see St Patrick’s claw their way back, again the match went to penalties. The keepers were to become heroes in this match forcing the penalties in to a sudden death knock out. St Margaret has finally won their place in the finals.
So the finals, once again supported by the Airdrie United, Albion Rovers and the Excelsior stadium sees St Ambrose take on St Margaret’s.
The finals are on Friday 21st with a kick off time of 7:00 pm we hope to see as many people there as possible in support of the competition. If that doesn’t sell it, Friday night football followed by a trip to Dingwall to take on Ross County maybe will?
