NOT GUILTY for Brown

Amongst the many cases that the AFL had to deal with from Round 5 action, the Western Bulldogs star Nathan Brown was up on a charge of striking Brisbane's Ashley McGrath.

When people look at the replay, they would tend to think that the evidence against Brown was fairly damning. He did appear to lash out at McGrath during the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game at the Gabba with an elbow.

Brown successfully argued that McGrath actually dived to try to get a free kick (which was eventually given with a 50 metre penalty). McGrath said that there was minimal contact with his throat.

The result of the hearing comes as good news for the Bulldogs as they try to record their second win of the season against St.Kilda this Sunday at the Dome.

The Werribee Tigers have sufffered a hammering at the hands of Collingwood affilliate Williamstown in the TXU VFL. The seagulls ended up winning by 121 points, with Werribee only managing to nab 4 goals for the entire day (more than Frankston could manage against Sandringham). Of the Bulldog listed players Tim Walsh was one of the goalscorers while Brent Colbert was in the Best Players.
