| I’ve
switched on the net and I have read the news, plus I’ve got 2 text
messages and a phone call from mates to say that Gareth Williams has
left Forest for Lester-Innit.
My first reaction like many of was full of expletives, to say I was annoyed at his decision is pretty mild, but why was I annoyed? Well Gareth came through the junior
ranks and made the first team, it's always difficult to let a home
grown player leave, but you have to remember he has made this sort of
decision before. He dumped I’m also annoyed because of his so called commitment to the club, badge kissing in my opinion is certainly high level commitment, but its easy to do and is also easily forgotten by the offender. Doest take too much effort does it. And that’s the secret why I’m not too bothered about his departure. When JJ left for the Toon Army, we
wished him well but we could all see that Gaz and Prutts both wanted
to join him in the Williams to me is a player who thinks "I" comes before "team" and wasn’t happy at all when he was made vice captain to Dawson. His head has dropped and Burnsy on Century 106 has described him as a coward by not putting in full tackles. If Williams wants to leave then fine, that’s ok, I understand. If I was in his position maybe I would consider my opportunities but if I would to have thought that, then the badge wouldn’t have been kissed and I’ve said to the gaffer, look mate but I’m off. Its obvious he has gone for money, but going to Leicester shows his lack of imagination, ambition and gumption. Do we really want that at Forest? Putting money aside for one minute and club loyalty and bias. Forest have the greater potential, the wonderful chairman, an experienced manager, a great academy, a good dressing room atmosphere, 23k weekly attendance, the superb away following, the best under 21 centre half pairing in the country, an awesome striker. Leicester have increasing debts, selling and releasing players on the cheap, a new manager with potential and a team that shows little class and relies on physical strength. I’m sure Leicester will be in the top 8 at the end of next season, well actually with Walker, Izzet and Dickov leaving I’ll retract that. Overall I thank Williams for his first 2 years or so at Forest for his efforts, and I don’t mind you leaving, in fact I hope you play well as that will be an advert for Nottingham Forest. Finally I’m pleased that you have left, you have wanted it for a long time, so its right for you to go, I just wish you had shown a stronger professional attitude that we demand at Forest, maybe that’s your reason for leaving. |
