Ward's long recovery process finally over.

Some good news! Darren Ward has finally recovered from the back injury that saw him require surgery last season. The injury could be seen as a blessing in disguise as it allowed Paul Gerrard entry into the club- although I'm sure he won't see his hardships that way!

Nottingham Forest welcomed a fit Darren Ward back to The City Ground yesterday. The ex-Notts County man was there to speak to Forest World about next season and the long road to recovery that he had to endure. "Since the operation its just been a case of strengthening exercises making sure the core inside is nice and strong- so I'll hopefully be ready for the start of the new season." The goalkeeper was out of action for the end of last season, but next time round he will hope he can retain the consistency of fitness that he has managed to maintain throughout the most part of his career. "It's been a little frustrating, but hopefully now with the surgery I had everything is on the mend. "Obviously I've been fortunate as far as injuries go. Hopefully this is my does of injury over and I'll be able to continue with my career." 'Wardy' was also asked about the prospect of having Paul Gerrard coming to Forest and maybe finally having some competition for a first-team place! "Well I think that's a little bit unfair on Barry- we work very closely together, but I think the gaffer is looking for two senior keepers which can only be good for the club."
