King and Dawson to miss trip across Atlantic.

Jamaican forward Marlon King and a former subject of Liverpool interest, Michael Dawson, will miss the Reds' pre-season tour of the United States. Joe KInnear feels that King needs a rest after playing his part and scoring 4 goals in the Reggae Boyz's World Cup Qualifiers, and Daws is injured.

Nottingham Forest's young defender Michael Dawson, who has previously attracted interest from Premiership giants Liverpool, will miss The Reds' summer tour of the States. The player, who has been plagued by injury at earlier times in his career, will miss the trip across The Atlantic as he has picked up a groin injury which will need medical attention if he is to be ready for the big kick-off. Manager Joe Kinnear explained: “Michael has a groin injury and I’ve decided that it’s better that he stays behind. “We’re sending him to Keele University to work on his strengthening but I have been given assurances by an osteopath and our medical staff that he will be available for the start of the season. “Marlon hasn’t really had much of a break because he has been playing for Jamaica in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying competition. “He scored four goals for Jamaica and did really well for himself. He spent a few days training with us last week but I’ve told him not to report back again until we have returned from America. I don’t want to run the risk of burning him out.” If Joe Kinnear feels that this action is necessary then who are we to argue. We must have faith in him and hope that the duo will be ready for Forest's 2004/05 promotion campaign.
