With nothing to play for the Portland Timbers go out in style to end the season. Clive Charles would have been proud! This was the largest crowd ever for the current Timbers Team 13,351.

| August 29th The Timbers season ends on a high note. With the team losing to El Paso the week before putting the team out of the playoffs and the news of former Timber Clive Charles passing away the Timbers had a great game. Clive Charles was honored for all his great work as a player and coach in Portland. Some of the current players were coached by Clive at the University of Portland. So the match had a special meaning to the players and fans and the players honered him well. Portland was without defenders Gavin Wilkinson and Aaron Heinzen who were both sitting out for yellow card accumulation.
Please check out Allison Andrews story on the Clive Charles tribute at halftime It has been a great season a two long days for me as I did not get in from the match until 3 the next morning and today I was at my nieces wedding. It is only 9 in the evening here but I am just dead. I will be writing my thought on the season in the next day or two plus posting some more pictures on the Timbers Army page from last nights match. |
