Two goals from the penalty spot by Craig Midgley is all that is needed to secure a win at the Shay for the lads from Halifax Town.

November 22nd by Highroadwellian An extremely dour opening 10 minutes soon turned into first-half end to end action. The game should have been sewn up by half time even though Farnborough gave Town one or two scary moments. The referee was a little whistle happy and perhaps one or three more Farnborough names should be in his little black book. My personal man of the match is Lewis Killeen, lots of involvement, good lay offs, and a few wild shots. It was another good team performance, difficult to single individuals out for praise. Midgley worked hard and deserves a mention. Yates and Mallon look to be making an awesome partnership on the right hand side. First Half 09 A Sandwith free kick hit the wall, the wall gave it him back, he lobbed it into the danger zone for McCombe who’s rising shot flew over the bar. 13 Burst of speed from Mallon cutting through the middle tried to find Killeen but Osborn gathers the ball first. 14 Midgley finds Killeen out wide on the left, his shot rebounds back off Osborn’s right hand upright. 17 Another Killeen shot from distance caught by Osborn. 25 1st Town corner 26 Shot from Mallon caught by Osborn. 27 Hodgson on the end of a long ball into the Town box, misses a sitter. The action rapidly goes end to end. Midgley fails to get on the end of a cross from the right,after good links from Mallon and Yates. At the other end Hodgson blazes one over the bar. 28 Hodgson trying to make it third time lucky, hesitates slightly, just enough for Yates to cover and block it. 33 Weak Midgley hook shot caught by keeper Osborn. 40 A good cross from Mallon eludes Killeen on six yards in centre of the goal. 45+1 GOAL 1-0 Midgley brought down just inside the right-hand corner of the area by the already booked Thompson. Hits it left, the keeper guesses correct, it goes inside the side of the net at waist height. Second Half 46 A Midgley free kick, headed back by McCombe finds Killeen who’s first time shot is saved by Osborn. 47 Charlery passes to Beall who shoots wide and right of the post. 54 Lee chests it down for Mallon who thunderbolts it over the bar. 60 Mallon tears down the right the cross is cleared for a corner. 67 Midgley plays it to Killeen who controls and shoots, knocked away by Osborn for a corner. 71 Substitute Belgrave steals into the box and Cartwright makes a telling save. 74 2-0 GOAL Killeen centrally placed lays a beauty out wide to Mallon, who’s pace takes him into the area, he is ceremoniously upended. Midgley puts the ball on the ball and blasts in into Osborn bottom right hand corner. 76 Lee’s last contact of the game shot saved by Osborn. 80 Killeen turns edge of area and shot over the bar. 85 Farrell misses from three yards after McCombe’s effort was palmed to him by Osborn from McAuley’s corner. How did he miss from there.
