Halifax Town scores early but it fails to hold up as Tamworth comes back with two. The Shayman play a man down the last 27 minutes of the match.

August 14th Opening Day! Tamworth 2 Halifax Town 1 The Shaymen travel to Tamworth with high hopes but leave crying foul. The match started off on a good note as Halifax Town was able to get on board first as Martin Foster scored after six minutes of play on a nice feed from Lewis Killeein. Tamworth came back at the 18th minute mark as Aaron Brown headed in a goal and in the 29th minute Tristram Whitman scored what turned out the game winner. In the second half Steve Haslam of Halifax Town was sent off for what the ref called a professional foul. The Shaymen played the last 27 minutes a man down and manage to give Tamworth a scare.
