Jerez Testing Round-up: 07/12/2006

The second day of testing in Jerez saw the world champion team make further good progress with its technical programme. There was little change in the day’s objectives, as Fisico and Heikki once again concentrated on tyre adaptation during extensive set-up evaluation programmes.

The world champions continue work in Jerez.

The two cars completed a total of nearly 141 laps, and the cars finished the day second and tenth. Giancarlo’s second day back at the wheel focused primarily on tyre work, while his young team-mate explored set-up options with the new Bridgestone products. Fisico finished the day second, with a time of 1:19.685, while Heikki was tenth – but only half a second behind – with a lap of 1:20.204.

Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk summarised the day’s work as follows: “We had another very busy day, and we tried to complete a large part of our programme today as we have seen some rain forecast for tomorrow. We collected some interesting today, and the team once again worked very hard today.”

Giancarlo and Heikki will complete their week’s work tomorrow in Jerez.
