Fisico leading the team forward

Renaults Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella has claimed that he must lead the team going into the 2007 season. He now becomes their number one driver with the departure of Fernando Alonso to rivals Mclaren Mercedes

Renaults title defences will be lead by Giancarlo Fisichella for the first time in the coming 2007 season. When the speedy italian was asked about it by formula1.com the Roman went on to say,

"I am under pressure because I have to lead the team," he revealed to formula1.com.

"I am comfortable with pressure and I have lived with it all my life so for me it is just another challenge, that's all," he added.

Heikki Kovalinen will parnter Fisico in 2007 and the young Finn will be in his rookie year. But the Roman goes on to say that the Equipment that will be used will be identical and everything will be on a level playing field.

"We know I start as the leader because I have more experience, but we will both have the same equipment, no doubt.

"Other than that only performance will tell."
