Renault Part Company With French Driver Montagny

Frank Montagny has reportadly stated that he will parted company with the mild seven Renault F1 team next year as he bids to gain a race seat for the 2006 season.

Renaults French driver Franck Montagny will reportedly be parting company with the French team ahead of the 2006 season. Montagny is hopeful of a race drive with Midland after being part of the Renault set up since being the third driver at Renault for 3 years. He was linked with Jordan/Midland earlier in the season when he tested the car in some of the practice sessions. it was reported then that he could take over during the season but this unfortunately did not happen.

The reserve driver (third driver)role for 2006 will most defiantly be given to finish driver Heikki Kovalinen who narrowly missed out on the GP2 title this year, with the two race drivers for 2006 staying the same with Giancarlo Fisichella and World Champion Fernando Alonso.

A seat for Midland might be a struggle for Montagny as many new drivers are gunning for the seat as well as their current race drivers Monteiro and Kartikayen. Also it would be presumable that Montagny will have to bring financial backing in order to capture the seat.
