Day two of Barcelona
By Renault F1
June 2 2006
Day two of Barcelona testing was a classic mid-season testing day: lots of miles completed, good data collected and very few problems with the cars. A straightforward, high-mileage day of testing for the Renault F1 Team in Barcelona – with lots of laps and plenty of data.
The drivers concentrated on different programmes throughout the day. Heikki Kovalainen continued to work hard on the tyre programme for Silverstone, and had a smooth day of running on his way to second-fastest time. He will fine-tune the final tyre selection tomorrow.
Giancarlo Fisichella, on the other hand, concentrated on preparations for forthcoming races. He worked on brake testing, and also signed off a number of a components for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.
Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk commented: “We had a solid day of testing today in Barcelona. The cars ran reliably, and we collected plenty of useful data for the next races. Tomorrow, we will be putting finishing touches to our preparations for the forthcoming race in Silverstone, where we expect the R26 to maintain its recent competitive form.”
