| Recent Form : The league table says it all.......or does it? There can't be many (if any) teams capable of back to back away wins at Peterhead, East Fife and Elgin, so why should Dumbarton not be added to that list. Their home record is good, but hardly one to drool over so the ridiculous odds of 7-1 against a Queen's win must be simply based on the expectancy that Dumbarton will rise to the occasion. Wonder what odds you would get on them bottling it under such pressure because their extra 700 part-time supporters will turn against them quickly if they do. | ||||
| Likely Outcome :
This is a devil of a game to predict because it's an unknown situation for both teams and
it may just be a question of who handles the pressure best that counts. No scoreline is
out of the question. If Dumbarton score early, then the big crowd will get right behind
them and Queen's youngsters may find it difficult to respond against what is (arguably)
the best quick passing team in the Division (judging by their ability to keep the ball for
long times in this year's games at Hampden). Alternatively, it could be Queen's youthful exhuberance that is their best weapon as they may see this as the stage to prove that their league position doesn't do them justice. Were Queen's to score the early goal, Dumbarton might find Queen's a very frustrating team to play against in which case the game could boil over and some red cards could easily follow. Whatever the outcome, I think it will be a fascinating contest especially as (in all likelihood), a draw would suit neither team. Queen's need all three points to stand a (good) chance of getting off the bottom, whilst I can't envisage Dumbarton wanting to leave it to chance that Albion Rovers won't win their game by two clear goals. For that very reason, with neither team willing to give an inch to the other, a draw is a strong possibility - in this case 1-1. |
