Wilson to Giant Axe

Phil Wilson has taken over as manager of Lancaster City. The ex-Southport boss took over Giant Axe of a list of over twenty candidates. The experienced manager has the CV to push Lancaster into the top half; he has won the Northern Premier League (NPL) twice as well as two FA Trophy Finals as a player with the likes of Northwich Vics, Runcorn, Altrincham and Mossley. He has previously managed Caernarfon Town, Stalybridge Celtic, and Leek Town. Northwich Vics and Southport and won the NPL Championship twice.

Phil will meet his previous club Southport during next seasons UniBond Premier League, who coincidently are managed by his current clubs ex-manager, Tony Hesketh quit Giant Axe to take over Haig Avenue. Phil Wilson who was released by Southport in January, was initially replaced by his Assistant Manager Mike Walsh.
