United boss Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to offer goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar a twelve month extension to his current contract. This would seem to suggest that the Dutch international will be United's first-choice shot stopper for a further two seasons.

Manchester United are set to offer Edwin Van Der Sar a year's extension to his Red Devils contract.

The goalkeeper joined the club from Fulham last season but his current deal is due to expire at the end of the new campaign. However, an impressive first season at Old Trafford has prompted Sir Alex Ferguson to offer the 35-year-old a further twelve month stay with the club.

Though something of a veteran, the Dutch international performed superbly last season and looks to have filled the void many supporters feel has never been filled since the departure of Peter Schmeichel in 1999. His form looks certain to have earned him the chance for a further year with United.
