United youngster Lee Martin has joined Glasgow Rangers on loan until the end of the year. The 19-year-old midfielder moved to Old Trafford from Wimbledon in 2003, but as yet has only registered one appearance for the club.
Glasgow Rangers have snapped up Manchester United youngster Lee Martin on a loan basis until the end of the calendar year.
New Bears boss Paul Le Guen has decided to bring the 19-year-old to Ibrox after he impressed during United's recent 3-0 pre-season victory over Celtic.
"I am delighted to come to such a club as Rangers," said an overwhelmed Martin.
"It is unbelievable and I have high expectations during my loan period. The whole reason for me coming here is to improve as a player on and off the pitch."
Martin joined United from Wimbledon in 2003, though has yet made only one start for the club - a 75-minute appearance against Barnet in the League Cup.
The move to Scotland should hand the midfielder some much-needed first-team experience, and Le Guen is confident the teenager may stay north of the border beyond the end of the year.
confirmed the Rangers boss."He has signed until December but we hope to get him until the end of the season."
"Alex Ferguson wants the possibility to take him back and I understand that. But there is a very good chance that we could keep him until the end of the season."
