Silvestre & Park Extend Contracts

Mikael Silvestre has ended speculation surrounding his immediate future by signing a contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2009. Winger Ji-Sung Park has also committed his future to the club, penning a deal that will keep him in Lancashire until at least 2010.

Manchester United duo Mikael Silvestre and Ji-Sung Park have both penned contract extensions to their current deals at Old Trafford.

Silvestre, who was part of the France squad that lost on penalties in July's World Cup final, has signed a deal that will see him stay at the club until 2009. This squashes speculation which had linked the versatile defender with a move back to his home country, though the player will face a real battle for first-team football against the likes of Wesley Brown, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.

Meanwhile, following an impressive first season with the Red Devils, Park has committed his future to United until 2010. The 25-year-old looks an excellent coup following his £4million move from PSV Eindhoven, and this news will be a boost to United supporters ahead of the new Premiership campaign.
