Miller Joins Keane at Sunderland

Manchester United flop Liam Miller has finally departed Old Trafford after two unsuccessful years. The midfielder has joined Championship outfit Sunderland, working under the leadership of former team-mate Roy Keane.

Liam Miller has joined Sunderland on a free transfer.

The Irishman will team up with countryman and fellow Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane, who took over the management reigns at the Stadium of Light last week.

The transfer adds further spice to Keane's arrival in the North East. Many press reports have focussed on previous comments Keane made about his new boss Niall Quinn, but it shouldn't be forgotten that Miller himself was one of the players who felt Keano's wrath in that infamous MUTV rant that was never aired on television.

Miller joined United from Celtic in July 2004, but has only registered three Premiership starts since making the move. He spent a successful loan spell with Leeds last year, but his career at Old Trafford never looked likely to succeed and Sunderland have beaten off competition from Sheffield United and Luton Town to bring the player to the Championship.

The 25-year-old is one of six new players to move to the Black Cats on transfer deadline. Keane has also lured former Red Devil Dwight Yorke to the North East, with Graham Kavanagh, David Connolly, Stanislav Varga and Ross Wallace also making the move.
