United Face Crewe in League Cup

Manchester United will face Dario Gradi's Crewe in the third round of the Carling-sponsored Football League Cup. The Red Devils could face a difficult evening as they kick-off the defence of their crown at Gresty Road.

Manchester United will begin the defence of their League Cup crown with a tricky tie to Crewe Alexandra.

The Red Devils have been paired with the League One outfit following the third round draw, which saw all Premiership clubs participating in Europe enter the competition.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be expected to make changes to his United line-up for the trip to Gresty Road, but the Scotsman must be careful not to underestimate Dario Gradi's hardworking side who are desperately seeking promotion back to the Football League Championship.
