Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be interested in bringing Glen Johnson to Old Trafford. The 25-year-old Chelsea defender is currently on a season-long loan spell at Portsmouth and was included in Steve McClaren's latest England squad.

Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for Chelsea full-back Glen Johnson.

The defender, who has found first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge, is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell with Harry Redknapp's Portsmouth and his impressive form has earned him a call-up to Steve McClaren's latest England squad.

Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be a keen admirer of the 25-year-old, and may see the player as a long-term replacement for veteran club captain Gary Neville.
