Scousers beaten and League Cup thoughts...

United simply outclassed a very poor Liverpool side on a wet Sunday afternoon in M16. The scousers were never in the game and although United were not at their best they eased past their local rivals.

Paul Scholes scored on his 500th appearance and Rio Ferdinand smashed in a cracker in front of the Stretford End to make it two nil. The home fans rejoiced and the away supporters sat in silence for most of the second half! 

On Wednesday the shirts travel the short distance to Crewe Alex. as they begin thedefence of the League Cup trophy they won last season. As usual Sir Alex will name a combination of youth and experience but Smithy and Heinze should play all being well.
