One goal by Freddy Eastwood was enough to put Southend United through at the expense of the holders who had enough of the ball and chances to have scored a hatfull. No excuses the home side defended like demons and all credit to them.

  •  After the game  Sir Alex Ferguson said "If you're going to lose it might as well be to something special like that. It is a great reminder to everyone at the club that football can smack you in the face and a few players will be bit embarrassed because it's disappointing. I am sure we will get slaughtered but there's no harm in defeat providing it improves you and you learn from it."
