United falter and lose at Upton Park

The Red Devils fielded their strongest team as they aimed to re-open the gap at the top, as Chelsea's win at Everton closing the gap to two points. However, Sir Alex Ferguson's men fell to defeat thanks to a second-half strike from Nigel Reo-Coker.

West Ham United despite struggling in the the bottom three gave new manager Alan Curbishley an early Christmas bonus with a shock win over a United team who dominated but failed to score. The League leaders failed to convert a host of chances and were beaten by the only goal of the game - a tap in from Reo Cocker after good work by Teddy Sheringham.  

United are now only two points clear with a trip to inproving Aston Villa coming up.

The pressure is on and the home games against Wigan and Reading are now vital over the festive period, no more slip ups please!
