United fight back to take a slender lead to Milano

It was another noisy night at Old Trafford but this time the Italians didn't lie down. In a pulsating match United first went 1-0 up then 2-1 down before coming back to snatch a memorable 3-2 win against AC Milan.

A makehift backfour was twice undone by Brazilian Kaka, but goals from Ronaldo and two second half specials from Wayne Rooney sent the home fans into raptures and makes the second leg very interesting!

The winner came deep into injury time and unlike the last home league game most fans had stayed until the end, those who made an early exit will have regretted it. Persistence and brilliance from Ryan Giggs set up the winner for Rooney in front of the Stretford End.
