Ferguson: "Title was Top Priority"

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that the club has achieved its top priority by winning back the league championship. The Manchester United boss has not lifted the Premiership crown for four seasons but couldn't hide his delight after wrestling it back from Chelsea this time around.

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Sunday, May 6th as a "fantastic" day with Manchester United crowned Premiership champions for a record ninth time.

The Red Devils are champions of England for the first time in four years and Fergie couldn't hide his delight after Chelsea's failure to win away at Arsenal handed United the title.

"It's a fantastic day for the club and fans." said Sir Alex.

"There was an emphasis on the league and the key was our good start. Once we made that, we never lost it."

There has been so much determination from the club to win the league title this season having watched Arsenal and twice Chelsea lift the prize since our last Premiership success. Ferguson has built a young side with plenty of self-belief and has revealed that winning back the league title was the club's chief priority this term.

Sir Alex added: "The Premier League is such a competitive league and the focus and the pressure on the big clubs makes it a focus for us. I used to have an obsession of winning in Europe but the Premiership has become a priority."

The Red Devils travel to Stamford Bridge in their next Premiership game; ironically facing the very opposition whom they have wrestled the league championship crown from this season. United sit seven points ahead of Chelsea with two league games remaining.
