Blackmore Handed Porthmadog Job

Clayton Blackmore has been named as the new manager of Portmadog. The 42-year-old former Manchester United star has been with the North Welsh club since last November and has now been handed the manager's reigns; having previously been in charge of fellow Welsh Premier club Bangor City.

Former Manchester United midfielder Clayton Blackmore has been named as the new manager of Welsh Premier outfit Porthmadog.

 

The former Welsh international spent twelve years at Old Trafford between 1982 and 1994; and has still not hung up his boots!

 

Blackmore has already spent six seasons in his native Wales with Bangor City where he notched up 176 appearances and represented the Citizens in Europe. He eventually became manager of the North Wales outfit, but he quit the job last November and was released as a player by new boss Steve Bleasdale.

 

Desperate to stay in football, Blackmore signed for Porthmadog as a player after leaving Farrar Road. He made 15 appearances for the Gwynedd club; helping them steer well clear of the Welsh Premier drop-zone with four goals.

 

He has now returned to management with Port and will be hoping to improve on the club’s eleventh-placed finish this season.
