Doc tips United as we head to Lyon

Former Manchester United boss Tommy Doherty has tipped the Red Devils to pick up a win against Olympique Lyonnais on Wednesday evening. The Scotsman has highlighted United's superb attacking form in recent weeks and believes they will have little difficulty in sweeping the French champions aside and going onto book their place in the quarter-finals of the European Cup.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have netted 21 goals in their last eight outings and Doherty believes that his old club will have too much in attack as they travel to the Stade Gerland.

"United are on superb form at the moment and are working so well as a unit. I'm not a big fan of Darren Fletcher, and yet he managed to chip in with two goals at the weekend. Goals are coming from everywhere." said the Doc, speaking to TalkSport radio.

"I think United simply have too much ammunition up front for Lyon. I'll bevery surprised if United don't come away with a victory."

Cristiano Ronaldo has recovered from a virus and looks set to start in France; whilst Ryan Giggs is set to make his 100th Champions League appearance for the Reds. Both players were rested for United’s 4-0 F.A Cup victory against Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Doherty’s confidence will be a boost to United’s fans who are expecting a tough challenge against Les Gones. Alain Perrin's men currently top 'Ligue 1'; although they did win only one of their three home group games in Europe and suffered a surprise 3-0 reverse at the hands of Glasgow Rangers.
