United's Lyon win equals Juve record

10-match record

Manchester United's 1-0 win over Lyon equalled a long-standing Champions League record. The Red Devils have become only the second club to win ten consecutive home games in the Champions League - a feat also achieved by Juventus back in 1997. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal of the game as Fergie's men secured a quarter-final spot.

Juventus won ten home games in a row in 1996/1997 season - although went onto lose in the final against German giants Borussia Dortmund.

United's superb run started in September 2006 with a 3-2 win over Celtic. Louis Saha scored twice and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer found the target as the Red Devils started a record-breaking run against the Hoops.

The 10-match run if as follows:

13/9/06 - United 3-2 Glasgow Celtic
17/10/06 - United 3-0 Copenhagen
6/12/2006 - United 3-1 Benfica
7/3/2007 - United 1-0 Lille
10/4/2007 - United 7-1 Roma
24/4/2007 - United 3-2 AC Milan
2/10/2007 - United 1-0 Roma
7/11/2007 - United 4-0 Dynamo Kiev
27/11/2007 - United 2-1 Sporting Lisbon
4/3/2008 - United 1-0 Lyon

United can break Juventus' record if they win their quarter-final home match - it would certainly be a spectacular feat.

Yep that's a great achievement. That Juventus side had some quality, with players like Del Piero, Inzaghi, Deschamps, Zidane, Tacchinardi and loads more quality players all in their prime years.

I was at OT when we turned that team over 3-2 in 97. It still remains in my top 3 all time favorite european nights at Old Trafford.
