United must tackle Roma again

Despite the nervous prospect of a derby date with Liverpool or a trip down to London, Uefa bosses kept supporters waiting as they made a meal out of the Champions League quarter-final draw. Uefa’s General Secretary David Taylor babbled his way through a series of speeches, video clips and rigmarole before finally commencing with the draw for the last eight of the European Cup.

The Red Devils will be paired, once again, with Roma as the two clubs look to continue their journey to May’s final in Russia. The first leg will be in Italy on either the 1^st or 2^nd of April.

The two clubs are becoming increasingly familiar with one another – we faced eachother twice in Group F this season, winning 1-0 at Old Trafford and drawing 1-1 in Rome. The season before, we met in the quarters and won 8-3 on aggregate thanks to that amazing 7-1 second-leg win at Old Trafford.

Those hoping for a repeat of that famous result will probably be disappointed. Roma have already knocked out a very strong Real Madrid side and currently sit second behind Inter Milan in Serie A. tough contest is on the cards.

The tie of the round is probably the all-English affair. The Scousers take on Arsenal with neither side particularly happy with the prospect. Meanwhile, Barcelona take on Schalke 04 and Chelsea face a trip to Turkey as they battle it out with Fenerbache.

Should United quality for the semi-finals, they will face the winner of the Barca v. Schalke tie.
