Referee gifts United a penalty who beat Bolton.
They all count

Manchester United gained their first Premier League home win of the season on Saturday afternoon but Lancashire neighbours Bolton Wanderers were left nursing a huge sense of injustice following the match at Old Trafford. The reds dominated the match and a victory was well deserved but the manner of Cristiano Ronaldo's opener left a bitter and sour taste in the mouth for the visitors.
Match referee Rob Styles awarded a penalty even though J Lloyd Samuel did not foul the Portugese star on sixty minutes.
The penalty was convereted by Ronaldo to give United the lead.
Coming off the bench as substitute Wayne Rooney scored his first United goal of the season. The England international curled a ball into the net after exchanging passes with Ronaldo.
Two-nil was a fair reflection of the game but all the talk afterwards was about the penalty decision. Even Sir Alex said it should not have been awarded!

Quote:It was 0.0 Bolton was very much still in the game and the big strapping six foot two Ronaldo at speed admittedly left his leg there to get a penalty, that is cheating in my book.emptyred
Firstly It wasn't a penalty and Ronaldo didn't dive either. It was a great tackle and as Samuel slide through and won the ball he also caught Ronaldo. You knew it was a bad decision when no one in the ground or amongst tyhe United players appealed for a penalty.
What is Ronaldo supposed to do - not get tackled ??
Best is my all time hero, but he could have his moments too!
Quote:You must admit that a player of ronaldo`s quality could and should have stayed on his feet but instead he decided to cheat and con the ref.You show me a clip of Best leaving his leg there and to cheat the ref for a penalty i don't think you`ll find one.You look on you tube and you will see page after page of Ronaldo diving. At the Bridge you witnessed a classic against Lampard it was comicle you had to laugh.Just admit he cheats.Rogero
Nobody appealed for a penalty, the Bolton player tripped Ronaldo after playing the ball. The game should have continued - in this instance the only person to blame is the ref.

Hows he meant to move his leg from there mid sprint?!?!
Yes he dives from time to time, yes its annoying but styles is the c*nt this time not ronnie.
Yet again though there is some irony in a chelsea fan moaning about diving and cheating.
Quote:Hows he meant to move his leg from there mid srint,"oh do me a favour"oh but i admit that he cheats from time to time,he cheated in that game why wont you admit it,instead of changing the subject and talking about other players when i am talking only about Ronaldo.Born_To_Do_Dishes
he could'nt have stayed on his feet in this instance.

and i'm just pointing out that your anger at ronaldo could be pointed towards some of yer own. Get your own house in order before criticising others is a phrase that comes to mind.
I'll quite happily chastise ronaldo when he does dive, but when he does'nt and gets idiots like you moaning its just as annoying.
Ive seen blatant penos turned down for us so im not gonna feel guilty about getting onwe we shouldnt have got.
Our possesion was huge and we could have scored more. We totally deserved 3 points
What an idiot! In this instance Ronaldo did nothing wrong. Saying "he left is leg out" is clearly wrong. If you look at the clip he can't just move his leg when he is about to be tackled.
NO ONE appealed for the penalty which says it all.
This really isn't about changing the subject - it's just acknowledging a fact.
