Carrick hoping for an even better 2009!

Carrick wants more!

Michael Carrick is in a confident mood as we head into 2009. The Manchester United midfielder has underlined the fantastic success the club enjoyed over the past twelve months – but is anxious to achieve even more this year. United head into 2009 as champions of England, Europe and the World.

The Red Devils have picked up three major pieces of silverware over the past twelve months - and also won the Community Shield at Wembley back in August.

Carrick, however, wants to see the club achieve even more over the next year.

"The last year has been incredible. To be able to set out an achieve everything we wanted to do - winning three major trophies - is very special, something to remember." said the former Spurs man.

"But, as players, we can look back on that at the end of our careers. Now we want to strive to achieve more. We hope 2009 will be even better."

United kick-off the New Year in Hampshire as they take on Southampton in the third round of the F.A Cup. The Reds are still in the League Cup with a two-leg semi-final against Derby on the horizon, and with the European Cup second round to follow, United are still competing on all fronts.

Can we possibly beat the successes of 2008 this year?
