Sir Alex Ferguson looks to have been justified in selling Louis Saha to Everton last September. Following his £12.5million move from Fulham, the French striker spent an injury-ravaged four years at Old Trafford which seriously hampered his progress. He joined the Toffees last summer and, despite a promising start, is now really troubling the physiotherapists at Everton.

Though Saha missed countless matches at United through injury, his goals-to-game ratio was actually rather impressive. The Frenchman netted 42 goals for United - making 122 appearances, of which 76 were from the start.

However, the former Fulham man was hampered by injury problems and consequently started to show a distinct lack of confidence in front of goal. As a result, Sir Alex decided to sell the player and Everton snapped him up in a deal rumoured to be worth £4million.

Saha penned a ‘pay as you play' deal at Goodison Park due to his injury problems. After an initial goal drought, the player bagged his first Everton goal in a 1-0 home win over Fulham before netting a sensational brace at West Ham as the Toffees snatched a 3-1 victory.

However, Saha is now back in the treatment room and facing yet another long lay-off. He picked up a hamstring injury on November 30th, missed all of Everton's festive fixtures, and has now aggravated the knock which will see him absent for a further five weeks.

He's clearly a very talented striker with the potential to be an explosive finisher. However, injury problems have dogged his career and Ferguson's decision to part company with the striker last summer is starting to look like a decent piece of business.

Feel for him. Could have been quite a success if not for his bad luck.

There was no way anyone would jave touched him on anything other than pay as you play
