Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Carlos Tevez has returned from a post-Christmas trip to South America and will play some part in the League Cup semi-final, first-leg at Derby on Wednesday evening. The striker has been in Argentina due to personal issues and has missed United’s last two matches.

As speculation continues about his future, Tevez has not been available for United's games with Middlesbrough and Southampton as he's been back in his native country.

However, he is now back in the North West and is expected to feature against managerless Derby as United bid to take a first-leg lead back to Old Trafford.

Speaking to MUTV, Fergie said: "Carlos will be back in training on Monday and he'll be involved on Wednesday."

The Ciudadela-born frontman has made 24 United appearances this season and has bagged eight goals.
