Crowd trouble at Stoke

Police in Stoke have kicked-off investigations following complaints about the behaviour of travelling Manchester United fans on Boxing Day. Stoke City officials claim that around 100 seats were ripped out of the away-end at the Britannia Stadium, whilst videos on the internet show United fans vandalising certain areas of the ground.

Videos, which have subsequently been removed from YouTube, allegedly showed United fans vandalising parts of the Britannia Stadium.

The footage was brought to the attention of officials at Stoke City after the club made complaints around 100 plastic seats being ripped out of the South Stand by travelling United fans.

Speaking to the Stoke Sentinal, stadium safety manager John Alcock said: "We were aware of the behaviour of a certain section of Manchester United fans during the match, but were not aware it had been posted on the internet.

"We tend to get quite a few supporters from different teams coming to the Britannia Stadium and damaging the facilities in the away end. The internet footage has been put on a CD and handed to police."
