Zieler extends loan

Manchester United's teenage goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler has extended his stay with Northampton Town. The German youngster will remain with the Sixfields club until the end of January, having first joined the club at the end of November. Thus far, Zieler has only been used as back-up by Northampton for first-choice stopper Chris Dunn.

Born in Cologne, Zieler is regarded as one of Europe's brightest goalkeeping prospects and the player will be desperate for the chance to prove himself.

He has spent the last month at Northampton as back-up - but, having extended the move by a further month, will be anxious to get a League One appearance under his belt.

United have included a 24-hour release clause in the deal - though only a serious injury-crisis would force them to recall the starlet before the end of January.

Good luck to Zieler.
