Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be set to leave Old Trafford for a role with the Norwegian national team. The Baby-Faced Assassin has admitted interest in working with his country in a coaching capacity before, and Karen Espelund, general secretary of the Norwegian Football Association, has admitted that talks have taken place about a future job for Solskjaer.

Solskjaer is currently reserve-team boss at United and is seemingly happy in the job.

He's enjoyed a promising start at the helm of the second-string and is regarded as an outsider to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson when the United boss decides to retire.

However, Solskjaer could be lured away from the Theatre of Dreams by the Norwegian FA. Talks have apparently taken place with an eye to Solskjaer taking up a coaching capacity with his country - though no concrete plans are in place.

"We have talked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he has said he is in favour of a role around the national team again in the future," said Norwegian FA general secretary Karen Espelund.

"As of today, it is too early to say when it could happen but we are very happy that Solskjaer has said that he will have a role in the national team in the future."

Solskjaer showed immense patience as a player at United and was happy to wait around for opportunities if it meant keeping hold of the red jersey.

He loves the football club and is considered to be doing excellent work with the reserves. United currently sit 8th out of 11th in the Reserve League Table but have four games in hand over a number of their rivals.

However, Solskjaer also loved playing for his country and would surely be tempted by a coaching role with Norway. Egil Olsen has been appointed head coach of Norway for their next three games, and certain press reports claim that United's legendary former frontman could soon join him.

(Sm6)

Be sad if he goes but he goes with our blessings. He'll always have a place at OT though.

I know Ole fairly well and I know there's truth in this.
He's enjoying being with the reserves though so we shall see.
I wouldn't like to say either way at the moment.
Time will tell.
