Inter Milan v. United - San Siro preview

Manchester United face one of their biggest tests of the season on Tuesday evening as they travel to the San Siro to face Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in the first-leg of a second round European Cup tie. Internazionale currently sit top of Serie A and are unbeaten in all twelve of their home league games this season.
Sir Alex Ferguson takes his squad to Italy facing a potential selection crisis. Nemanja Vidic is suspended following his red card in the World Club Cup, whilst Jonny Evans is a major doubt after picking up an ankle injury during Saturday's 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.
Gary Neville and Wes Brown are also missing through injury, whilst John O'Shea is a doubt with a damaged heel. This has prompted Fergie to admit he is "worried" at the prospect of fielding an unfamiliar defensive quartet against an Inter side who harbour ambitions of winning the competition for a third time this season.
Inter, however, were less than convincing in the group stages of the Champions League. They finished second in group B - behind Panathinaikos who secured a shock victory at the San Siro.
That result was sandwiched between a 3-3 draw at Anorthosis Famagusta and a 2-1 defeat at Werder Bremen - results which soured Inter's excellent start to the tournament where they picked up seven points in their opening three games.
The bookmakers have holders United as favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals - but we, at ManUtdWeb Towers, think it's going to be very, very tough. Mourinho will be anxious to get one over his old adversary Sir Alex and United's untimely injury problems make a trip to the San Siro an extremely daunting prospect.
