The shortlist for the Professional Footballers' Association player of the year award has been announced - and it's testimony to United's superb season to date that five of the six nominated players are Reds. Voting has already taken place with the winner set to be announced on April 26th at London's Grosvenor House.

Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic have all been shortlisted for the PFA accolade.

Steve Gerrard completes the list - with the Scouser the only non-United star nominated for the coveted award.

The list has been released after voting has taken place to give supporters an idea of who is in the running.

Voting has already taken place - and took place before United's recent dip in form. For that reason, Nemanja Vidic is considered favourite to capture the trophy.

Meanwhile, defensive duo Jonny Evans and Rafael Da Silva are in the running for the young player's award. Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Aaron Lennon and Stephen Ireland are also in contention.
