Tevez decides to quit OT despite big bucks United offer

It’s official – Carlos Tevez is leaving. The news comes as no great surprise with long-term speculation suggesting an Old Trafford exit for the South American frontman; but now the club have made a formal announcement.
The decision, however, is entirely down to Tevez.
United were eventually prepared to splash out £23.5million to sign the player on a permanent basis and offered the player a reportedly very generous five-year contract. Tevez, however, has turned that down and will now head onto pastures new.
Having splashed out a small fortune funding the player's two-year loan move, United were initially uneasy about paying Tevez's third party owners over £20million to snap up the forward permanently. However, United eventually budged - but have been unable to agree personal terms with the Argentinean.
An official club statement said: "Disappointingly, his advisors informed the club that he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United."
A host of clubs are now expected to move for Tevez - with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City expected to lead the race.
The player's decision will lead to more rumours of reported United targets. With Cristiano Ronaldo set to complete a £80million move to Real Madrid, the Red Devils need to re-strengthen their squad following two high-profile departures and are set to be linked with the game's biggest stars.
Tevez has enjoyed a hugely successful two seasons with the club and leaves boasting two league championship medals, a European Cup winning medal, a Club World Cup medal and a League Cup medal. He made 99 appearances for the club - his final coming in Rome - and bagged an impressive 34 goals.
Good luck to Tevez in the future - though his decision is bitterly disappointing; and the thought of him playing in front of the Kop or at Eastlands next season doesn't bare thinking about.

Sadly we have now lost Carlos and there are not many strikers out there who will be able to replace him. Net season there is going to be hell of a lot of pressure on Rooney.

Joorabchian has now clarified the situation by insisting that money was not a factor in the Argentine's decision.
The 25-year-old's advisor has also stressed that Tevez was left with no choice but to turn United down as he was not given enough time to make his mind up.
"When Man United made their offer about ten days ago, for the first time in two years, we never went back to them to ask about money," Joorabchian told Sky Sports News.
"We just asked for some time to think about it. Obviously they have had two years to think about it and Carlos had to make a decision based on his family.
"Just to make it clear, this has been Carlos' decision. Nobody else would make this decision for him."
Joorabchian added: "We didn't actually reject the offer. Manchester United have ruled themselves out of the running.
"We actually asked for more time and if they could not give that we would have to walk away.
"He wants time to digest it and to know which club would suit him because now he is committing the next five years of his future."

I thought he was gagging to stay. I bet he was offered damn good wages so why has he turned it down?!
I think Tevez would even turn down our 150k/week for 40k/week at Stoke City, because they can guarantee him something we cant. First team football.
I think he likes the money but I think he'd prefer to be playing week in week out not riding the bench every second week.
