Campbell joins Black Cats in £3.5million deal

Sunderland-bound

Steve Bruce has done business with his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson – with Frazier Campbell leaving Old Trafford and joining Sunderland in a deal worth an initial £3.5million. The Black Cats have beaten rivals Hull to the signature of the English forward; with any fee possibly rising to as much as £6million.

The 21-year-old passed a medical on the weekend and becomes Sunderland's first new signing of the summer.

Campbell has always been regarded as an excellent prospect for the future; but has struggled to win regular first-team football with United.

The forward has made only four senior appearances for United - but made a huge impact on loan at Hull during the 2007/2008 season where he bagged 15 league goals. He spent last season at Spurs; but struggled for regular games and hit the net only three times.

It's disappointing to see another potentially-bright youngster leaving without a proper chance.
Good luck to Campbell at the Stadium of Light.

I rated the kid pretty highly and i am sure you wanted to keep but they want to play regularly.
