Ex-Reds midfielder to join the priesthood

Former Manchester United midfielder Phil Mulryne is set to swap his football kit for the cloth! The Ulsterman has hung up his boots and is set to begin training for the priesthood.
31-year-old Mulryne kicked off his playing career at Old Trafford but made only one league appearance under Sir Alex Ferguson.
He then left for Norwich where he spent six years and made 178 appearances - but the player struggled after leaving Carrow Road after disappointing spells at Cardiff and Leyton Orient.
The player has had personal problems and in August 2005 found himself ejected from Northern Ireland's international squad for a breach of discipline. The player broke curfew with fellow Cardiff midfielder Jeff Whitley. They were both axed and would subsequently miss wins over Azerbaijan and England.
The player has now decided to quit football - and is understood to start his priesthood training in August. Good luck to Mulryne!
