United to host Wolves in League Cup third round

Many members of the automatic cup scheme will have been less than pleased with the outcome of Saturday afternoon’s League Cup draw. United once again host Premier League opposition in domestic cup action – with Wolverhampton Wanderers travelling to Old Trafford for the third-round tie.
The Red Devils won the competition last season beating top-flight duo Middlesbrough and Blackburn on their way to Wembley.
United eventually won the trophy with a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out win over Spurs, and kick-off the defence of their crown at home to Wolves in the third round.
The match will see Sylvan Ebanks-Blake line-up against his former club. The striker's goalscoring exploits helped Wolves win promotion to the Premier League and the 23-year-old will be hoping to show Sir Alex that he was wrong for selling him for £200,000.
Mick McCarthy's men reached this stage of the competition following a penalty shoot-out win over rivals Swindon and currently sit 12th in the Premier League table following their opening four matches.
Elsewhere, Leeds United do battle with Liverpool in a mouth-watering tie at Elland Road, whilst old rivals Chelsea and QPR will face off at Stamford Bridge.
Ties will be played during the week commencing Monday, 21 September and the full draw is as follows:
