Red Rebels forced for one-off home venue switch

FC United of Manchester - the breakaway club formed by disillusioned Manchester United supporters - will play their next home game away from the familiar surroundings of Gigg Lane. Wednesday's clash with Nantwich Town clashes with Bury's Football League Trophy tie and thus Karl Marginson's men must relocate to Ewen Fields, once a venue for United's reserve-team.
Though the club intend to eventually build their own ground, FCUM have played home matches at Gigg Lane in Bury since their formation in 2005.
However, on Wednesday evening, the vocal Red Rebels supporters will have to get used to new surroundings as they play at Hyde United's Ewen Fields home.
FC's Northern Premier League game against Nantwich clashes with Bury's Football League Trophy outing against Tranmere Rovers.
It's not the first time the Rebels have had to take home matches away from Gigg Lane. In February 2006, a league clash against Holker Old Boys was placed at Moss Lane in Altrincham, whilst in December 2007 the Reds entertained Rossendale United at Stainton Park, Radcliffe.
Popular boss Marginson will be hoping that the change of scenary won't stop his side sealing a third win on the trot. FC sit five points behind the play-off pack but have games-in-hand over a number of their rivals.
