VDS clean sheet as Macheda's strike seals second-string win

Edwin van der Sar kept a clean sheet on his Red Devils comeback on Tuesday evening. United edged out Everton 1-0 in a reserve-team clash at Widnes, and VDS came through the entire ninety minutes unscathed.
Two
broken bones in his left hand have kept Van Der Sar on the sidelines so far
this season.
However,
the Dutchman returned to action for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reserves on Tuesday
evening and kept a morale-boosting clean sheet.
The
veteran ‘keeper was rarely troubled throughout the game. Kiko Macheda's
second-half strike kept United's stiffs clear at the top in a relatively
comfortable evening at the Halton Stadium.
The ‘keeper performance was enough, however, to encourage him that he'll be back in action for United's next league outing at home to Bolton after the international break.
"I feel good and I haven't had any reaction. The match is still 10 days away so I have more training to do, then I will be ready for my first start of the season." he said.
United have missed Van Der Sar so far this season. Ben Foster has been Sir Alex Ferguson's ‘keeper of choice - but the England hopeful has been a little unconvincing at times, and made high-profile errors against City and Sunderland. VDS will be expected to stroll back into the first-team when he's fit and ready.

The reserves are on good form this season. Perhaps testimony to Solskjaer? Particularly as he mainly does it with youngsters.
