United's League Cup semi-final at Eastlands on Wednesday has been postponed. The large amounts of snowfall in the North West mean the pitch is unplayable, and the game has subsequently been moved to the 19th of January, prompting a series of fixture changes.

Heavy snow means that the City of Manchester Stadium will be unable to host the mid-week fixture.

The week's other League Cup semi-final - Aston Villa's visit to Ewood Park - has also been postponed amid treacherous weather conditions.

United's trip to Eastlands has now been moved to January 19th.

The second-leg has been shifted to Wednesday, January 27th - meaning United's Premier League fixture at home to Hull will have to find a new slot on the calendar.

The move will cause chaos for fans - many of whom will have booked evenings off work to attend matches which have now been moved all over the place.

Sir Alex Ferguson will also be bitterly disappointed, and now faces a team selection headache. The Scotsman was expected to delight fans and refrain, as originally planned, from fielding a young and inexperienced side following the Leeds debacle. However, that may now change.

Called off due to a lack of grit - not sure if thats in the team or on the raods though (Sm16)

I think there is more grit in Fife than there is in our team at the moment.

I think the Hull game should go to that weekend as they also got knocked out of the Cup at the third round stage. It'll probably go further into the future, though.
