Blackpool eye up loan move for Welbeck

Blackpool have been linked with a move for United frontman Danny Welbeck. The newly-promoted Lancastrian side are thought to be eyeing up a move for youngster Danny Welbeck on a season's long loan.

Ian Holloway must work hard to strengthen his squad over the summer following Blackpool's jaw-dropping climb into the top flight.

It remains unclear whether loan star striker DJ Campbell will remain at Bloomfield Road, meaning Holloway could be worryingly short of attacking options.

The former Bristol Rovers boss is thought to have cast an eye over Welbeck in recent days and could line up a season-long loan bid.

Teenage starlet Welbeck has struggled for first-team recognition at United and has fallen behind fellow youngster Kiko Macheda in the pecking order.

He made eight loan appearances for Blackpool's fierce rivals Preston last season, with his two goals perhaps drawing the interest of Holloway.

Welbeck has made 24 United appearances and has five senior goals to his name.

Would, imo, be a fantastic move for both club and player.

First team PL games, regularly. Just what we both need to see if he has it or not.

I reckon do the hollow man a favour and ship him out

Regular games in the premiership would be excellent for him, as long as he's played up front and not on the wing.

Agree with Rogero.Good idea all round.Blackpool, Preston et al is the standard for this young man.....but that's it. I am sure that we all wish him well. However, in my opinion, I don'think we should get carried away thinking that this is a Beckham mark 2.It might not be what some people want to hear, but we just ain't got the youngsters comig through right now. Macheda...I hear you say!! Respect for Villa 09 but the future? I don't think so.I have posted it before but this club has one helluva a challenge coning up.
