Evra and ex-Red Forlan in World Cup action

United full-back Patrice Evra and former Old Trafford frontman Diego Forlan were in action as France and Uruguay played out a goalless draw in South Africa. The second game of the tournament failed to match the opener as France failed to break down the 10-man Uruguayans.

Evra wore the captain's armband as 64,000 watched an uninspiring goalless draw at the Green Point Stadium.

Uruguay lacked serious quality - but they showed character to battle to a fine point; especially as they played the closing part of the match with ten men following Nicolas Lodeiro's dismissal for two bookable offences.

The result means Group A is perfectly poised following South Africa's entertaining 1-1 draw with Mexico earlier on Friday.
