39,139 were at the Rogers Centre as Manchester United kicked-off their pre-season tour with a 3-1 win over Glasgow Celtic. Goals from Dimitar Berbatov, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley secured a decent pre-season win for the touring Reds.
Bulgarian frontman Berbatov gave United the lead on 34 minutes. He showed great skill and composure to control a Diouf cross before dispatching an excellent finish as the Reds played the better football throughout the opening period.
Substitute Georgios Samaras restored parity after the re-start with a penalty. New signing Chris Smaller brought down Celtic's fresh arrival Joe Ledley in the box and Samaras made no mistake with the penalty.
However, a late flurry from United ensured their pre-season tour kicked off with a morale-boosting win. Welbeck slid home Berbatov's cross on 79 minutes before the Bulgarian again turned provider as he found Cleverley who drilled home a deflected effort.
Next up for Sir Alex Ferguson's men is a game against Philadelphia Union.
